DAY 2 of 6!

We all woke up well rested and excited for our second day in the city. It was about an hour train ride into the city from our friends house, where we were staying. Here’s a pic of Sandra and I at Madison’s adorable train station. Of course with our morning coffees πŸ™‚ .

First stop, Grand Central Station. WOW! The station is beautiful! We took lots of pictures but nothing seemed to turn out awesome.. must have been the cameras fault right? Anyway, here is the only decent full body shot of my outfit for the day. I am crazy for this suede skirt because it goes with so much! I like to wear it with a longer shirt over or a tucked flannel. The shirt is so comfy and can be dressed up (sort of) or dressed down with jeans so easy. It comes with those hanging straps on the inside (which drive me nuts) and I plan to snip those out ASAP! The booties were a cute choice with this outfit but not a cute choice for walking around New York City. My feet were okay but they would have been a lot better in some Nike’s. But we were in the city, I had to dress up right?

After touring the station for a little while, we tried out Dunkin’ Donuts. EVERYBODY says, “you must try Dunkin’ Donuts.” Look, this might offend some people but WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? I think the coffee was alright nothing special (#sorrynotsorry). After drinking our mediocre coffee, we took a taxi to the Rockefeller building.

(Here’s Ryan calling for a taxi. OMG, he isΒ we are such dorks)

While waiting for our “appointment” time to take the elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller, I did some shopping at TOPSHOP πŸ™‚ .

Here is what I got:

The yellow flannel has been on my radar for a while so I knew this was going to be a purchase. The lace-up flats have been all over Instagram lately and I have been drooling! I am so happy to now have a pair! I was between the these and the same ones but with tassels. Sandra and I decided the tassels were too intense. The NY (not from TOPSHOP) hat is just cute (sorry NY, I am only concerned about the cuteness factor. At least I am honest?).

The elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller was 90 seconds of torture. I get motion sickness and they had a crazy strobe light show on the ceiling while we rode up (I was so happy when it stopped!). The views were amazing but I was happy to be back on the ground floor πŸ™‚ .

We ate a late breakfast so we skipped lunch, terrible decision (some of us may have been hangry (hungry+angry=hangry), or maybe that was just me?). We went and wandered through the MET. AMAZING is all I can say. You could spend an entire day just looking at things in the MET. We left after a couple hours in need of dinner.

(I should be embarrassed by this but for some reason I am not)

Reichenbach Hall is where we ended up for dinner. It was a great atmoshphere with delicious chicken wings πŸ™‚ . The beer was pretty good too! After dinner, we checked out the Barcade (video game bar). The dudes had a great time, Sandra and I were exhausted.

Lastly, on our way back to the train station, I saw a Psychic sign. YES! This is not really for everyone but I think it is fun to see what they will say. The woman read my palm for a few seconds (while her dog barked and her kids yelled in the other room) then had some serious predictions. She said: If I am not careful, I will be pregnant with a boy in 7 months (um, no thanks! This mama is done πŸ™‚ ), I will be signing important papers in the next few months, we will be buying a different house in 2 years and I may be changing jobs. She also answered a few random questions of mine. It was a lot of fun, I may or may not have been intoxicated while my reading but I had a blast.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day 2 in NYC, there are 4 more days to come!

Outfit: Top (Free People), Skirt (Hinge), Shoes (Steve Madden), Necklace (Stella&Dot)

(The little feet in the picture are my youngest, Madison’s. It is not easy to get a picture without these kids sneaking in πŸ™‚ )

Today’s look. These green Rag and Bone jeans have become one of my FAVORITES. (I picked them up at the Anniversary Sale at a much better price!) At first, I was thinking, “what does someone wear with green pants?” Once I got home, I was like, “what can’t you wear with green pants?” The possibilities are endless πŸ™‚ . It’s all about trying new options and putting pieces together to see how they will look. You may surprise yourself! Next, this Halogen shirt (is $25 and comes in several different colors, I also got this piece at the Anniversary Sale for only $15) is an awesome basic. I am CRAZY for a white t-shirt, they are so easy to put on with jeans, a skirt/shorts or GREEN PANTS πŸ˜‰ . The leopard BP flats are always a great choice. They are not the most supportive shoes and mine have gotten a little stinky (TMI?) but they are super fun and reasonably priced. Last, the necklace is a hand-me-down piece from my wonderful sister-in-law (thanks, Jamie!). It is from Anthropologie but not sure how long ago.

This last option is a more formal one. Heels are an obvious choice for dressing up a simple black dress. I RARELY wear heels but I feel like it is a must to own a pair for that once in a while evening that heels are perfect for. I try my best to make an outfit work without heels but sometimes there is no avoiding it πŸ˜‰ . These ones areΒ Louise et Cie and are pretty comfortable for heels. They are about 3 1/2”, I found that 3” is what I am most comfortable at, 4” is crazy town! After wearing these for a night only one toe was numb for about a day, that’s good right?

ThisΒ Search for Sanity jacket is so fun and lightweight for summer. It can really dress up an outfit. The necklace is Panacea and is always a great addition to any outfit! I love how different it is. A real conversation starter πŸ™‚ .Β

A big thanks to my sister, Brionne for all her photography skills!
Action shot!

Here is a look of the simple black dress and the 3 options I chose πŸ™‚ :

Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

I really enjoyed doing this project and I hope you had fun reading my posts!

Sunday morning, my sister and I woke up early to take pictures (of me πŸ™‚ ) for the blog. We decided to go at 7am to avoid people, we are no professionals, photographer or model, so the fewer people around the better (so embarrassing!). When choosing the outfits for the shoot, I decided to wear a plain black dress then show different ways to style it. These pictures are of a Tildon dress and BP leopard flats (my fav!). Β I can’t show all the goods in one blog post, so today I will post only the pics of my black dress. The next post will show a different way to style the simple dress.

Working on my pose…

Mother’s Day

I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to debut this outfit. I didn’t want to waste this wild outfit on just anything. Mother’s Day felt fit. This Ro & De skirt is so fun. At first I was not sure what to wear with the stripes, but then I decided to just go for it and wear whatever. Remember, it’s all about taking fashion risks πŸ™‚ . From the Raga tassel shirt (a crop top, high waisted bottoms are a must or a blouse underneath πŸ™‚ ) and striped skirt to the leopard BP flats and Geo necklace, this outfit is totally mis-matched but I think that is what makes it so amazing. Oh and the Treasure & Bond jean jacket is always a good choice, it can be thrown on with some colored jeans or a dress.

(My knee is red from crossing my legs, if you were wondering πŸ™‚ )

Travel Gear

I am beginning to think more about our trip to NYC, NJ and DC in the Fall. I feel like my outfits must be perfect for everyday while we are there. How am I going to pack lots of options in my one bag. My husband thinks we should just bring carry-ons and wash clothes while we are there, he is insane. I suggested that I want a LV carry on and then he said that I am insane. I guess we are both nuts.

I feel like when traveling, one must use a bag separate from their everyday purse. The funny thing is that you don’t want to stick out like a tourist but you need something better for traveling (storing extra clothes, snacks). So, I was looking online at different cross body bags and bigger/smaller purses. I landed on this Tory Burch backpack. _10372047OMG I can’t believe I am considering a backpack, I feel like such a mom (well, I am a mom but I try not to be a nerdy-unfashionable mom). Β BUT, the backpack is perfect for traveling, it will fit lots of stuff, I will have my arms free for activities and I kind of adore this one. It’s not like I will be strolling the streets with a plaid Jansport backpack, at least this one is leather and timeless right? Am I totally wrong for loving this? If I am wrong then I don’t want to be right πŸ™‚ I hope you approve, if not let me know your suggestions. Please don’t suggest a fanny pack, I just can’t.

Just In

OMG I just received two amazing pieces in the mail! First, I LOVE a cute bow tie. There was one I wanted from a link online but it was no longer available so I found another great option (on Amazon of all places for under $10). I feel like my dreams came true when I opened this package. I have so many outfit ideas to do with this bowtie, a long white blouse, with or without a sweater, black skirt/black shorts/black pants and mens inspired shoes. I will post pics this week when I where this bowtie to work πŸ™‚ Thursdays are the best days to wear bowties, bow tie Thursdays, it’s fetch.

Second, this is my first purchase on Baublebar. I have been looking at this necklace for weeks and I finally decided to go for it. Let’s start with the packaging, ADORABLE and it really makes you feel special πŸ™‚ My husband said my necklace looks like something a 70 year old woman would wear. Well, a 70 year old woman with amazing taste would definitely wear this necklace!

After wearing this necklace for a few hours, the weight is a little much BUT I will definitely still wear it. This chunky chain necklace would be cute with a plain white, grey, blue, green t-shirt or a checkered button-down shirt. I plan to wear this with a denim button down shirt, a skirt and maybe boots or flats, this week. OOH I can’t wait!

Thanks for reading,

So, Nordstrom just added Madewell to select stores and online. Β I have not heard of this brand so I thought I would check it out. Many of the pieces are reasonable and some are not. I would describe the brand as kind of a hipster meets everyday look.

I am CRAZY for a v-neck! This v-neck has an adorable pocket, comes in a lot of different colors and is under $20. Wowza!

For some reason I am obsessed with this jean vest, I don’t know when or how I would wear it but I think it is so cute. The downfall is that this vest is $98.. a little steep for a jean vest when I can’t even think of an outfit that goes with it.

I LOVE a torn jean right now.. I have been wearing my Hudson pair daily when I am not at work. I like that these are high-rise and I really like the wash. These are $128 which is a little steep for a brand I am not familiar with but I think a somewhat reasonable price for jeans.

This high-low tank is kind of adorable and goes with anything. I like that the back is longer than the front and the color is great (I don’t own anything this color so it would be nice to branch out).

Honestly, I am not sure if I will buy anything from this brand or not. Right now I am eyeing the v-neck and tank…

Today’s Look

Today’s look includes a faux leather skirt, Toms wedges, a white silk Β button down and lace pullover (clearance from Banana Republic – Β don’t get me started on my experience with them! πŸ™‚ ). I had fun coming up with this outfit, the black lace pullover just came in the mail and I couldn’t wait to wear it. I usually pick out my outfit the night before while I am laying in bed or while I shower…

OMFG This Dress

OMFG I LOVE and WANT this dress. Pretty please for my Birthday πŸ™‚ This Kate Spade Griffin dress is so adorable and something I would wear to dinner, work, heck I will wear it anywhere I love it! I think it would be adorable with some fun laced black tights and some black wedges or a fun colored flat or heel. EEE
