Richmond, Virginia was the last leg of our trip. Our wonderful friends, Mike and Mona, hosted us at their super cool loft (thanks again, friends ๐Ÿ™‚ ). Our first thought once in Virginia was, “OMG it’s humid!” ย It went from no rain to downpour in the matter of minutes. Once the rain stopped, we were still wet from the humidity. Minus the humidity, we had a great time with awesome friends!

We arrived around lunch time and once settled in, we set out for lunch and shopping (best day ever). Check out the AMAZING faux fur vests I picked up ๐Ÿ™‚ ย because everyone needs 2 right. ย They serve different purposes… The pleather pants are just fun. Although, I wore them the other night and they were not quite as comfortable as I thought they would be (I could barely keep them up over my butt and it was a little hard to sit, TMI?) but they are still super cute and fun. The things girls do to look cute…

Notice the crazy cool necklace? I got the vest and pleather pants from a place called Traveling Chic Boutiqueย (check out the page, it’s a real cool place). The girls working were hilarious, they kept talking to a mannequin that they were trying to dress and saying all kinds of funny mean comments about the body, I peaked my head from the dressing room and said, ” you’re not talking about me right?” We all starting laughing, maybe you had to be there? The vest and necklace on the right are from Fab’rik. ย Ryan thinks the necklace is awful, but I LOVE it! I say, the uglier the better ๐Ÿ™‚ . It’s actually really cool. The people working at Fab’rik said while in Richmond, we needed to eat as much as possible because the food is amazing. So we did.

We had to try some southern BBQ. We ate at Buzz and Ned’s. I loved my wings, Ryan thought his ribs could have been better.

Um, in Richmond, they have a 24 hour fresh cookie delivery service, AMAZING!

We ended our trip with a super fun and cute boat ride. We were the only 4 people on the boat so the driver spent a little extra time letting us look for turtles, if you know me, you know how I feel about turtles ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip,

Highlights from our trip:

Big Bus tour in NYC, Book of Mormon, visiting with friends and of course shopping! Oh and of course coming home to our sweet girls ๐Ÿ™‚ .

DAY 2 of 6!

We all woke up well rested and excited for our second day in the city. It was about an hour train ride into the city from our friends house, where we were staying. Here’s a pic of Sandra and I at Madison’s adorable train station. Of course with our morning coffees ๐Ÿ™‚ .

First stop, Grand Central Station. WOW! The station is beautiful! We took lots of pictures but nothing seemed to turn out awesome.. must have been the cameras fault right? Anyway, here is the only decent full body shot of my outfit for the day. I am crazy for this suede skirt because it goes with so much! I like to wear it with a longer shirt over or a tucked flannel. The shirt is so comfy and can be dressed up (sort of) or dressed down with jeans so easy. It comes with those hanging straps on the inside (which drive me nuts) and I plan to snip those out ASAP! The booties were a cute choice with this outfit but not a cute choice for walking around New York City. My feet were okay but they would have been a lot better in some Nike’s. But we were in the city, I had to dress up right?

After touring the station for a little while, we tried out Dunkin’ Donuts. EVERYBODY says, “you must try Dunkin’ Donuts.” Look, this might offend some people but WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? I think the coffee was alright nothing special (#sorrynotsorry). After drinking our mediocre coffee, we took a taxi to the Rockefeller building.

(Here’s Ryan calling for a taxi. OMG, he isย we are such dorks)

While waiting for our “appointment” time to take the elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller, I did some shopping at TOPSHOP ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Here is what I got:

The yellow flannel has been on my radar for a while so I knew this was going to be a purchase. The lace-up flats have been all over Instagram lately and I have been drooling! I am so happy to now have a pair! I was between the these and the same ones but with tassels. Sandra and I decided the tassels were too intense. The NY (not from TOPSHOP) hat is just cute (sorry NY, I am only concerned about the cuteness factor. At least I am honest?).

The elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller was 90 seconds of torture. I get motion sickness and they had a crazy strobe light show on the ceiling while we rode up (I was so happy when it stopped!). The views were amazing but I was happy to be back on the ground floor ๐Ÿ™‚ .

We ate a late breakfast so we skipped lunch, terrible decision (some of us may have been hangry (hungry+angry=hangry), or maybe that was just me?). We went and wandered through the MET. AMAZING is all I can say. You could spend an entire day just looking at things in the MET. We left after a couple hours in need of dinner.

(I should be embarrassed by this but for some reason I am not)

Reichenbach Hall is where we ended up for dinner. It was a great atmoshphere with delicious chicken wings ๐Ÿ™‚ . The beer was pretty good too! After dinner, we checked out the Barcade (video game bar). The dudes had a great time, Sandra and I were exhausted.

Lastly, on our way back to the train station, I saw a Psychic sign. YES! This is not really for everyone but I think it is fun to see what they will say. The woman read my palm for a few seconds (while her dog barked and her kids yelled in the other room) then had some serious predictions. She said: If I am not careful, I will be pregnant with a boy in 7 months (um, no thanks! This mama is done ๐Ÿ™‚ ), I will be signing important papers in the next few months, we will be buying a different house in 2 years and I may be changing jobs. She also answered a few random questions of mine. It was a lot of fun, I may or may not have been intoxicated while my reading but I had a blast.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day 2 in NYC, there are 4 more days to come!

Outfit: Top (Free People), Skirt (Hinge), Shoes (Steve Madden), Necklace (Stella&Dot)

(The little feet in the picture are my youngest, Madison’s. It is not easy to get a picture without these kids sneaking in ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Today’s look. These green Rag and Bone jeans have become one of my FAVORITES. (I picked them up at the Anniversary Sale at a much better price!) At first, I was thinking, “what does someone wear with green pants?” Once I got home, I was like, “what can’t you wear with green pants?” The possibilities are endless ๐Ÿ™‚ . It’s all about trying new options and putting pieces together to see how they will look. You may surprise yourself! Next, this Halogen shirt (is $25 and comes in several different colors, I also got this piece at the Anniversary Sale for only $15) is an awesome basic. I am CRAZY for a white t-shirt, they are so easy to put on with jeans, a skirt/shorts or GREEN PANTS ๐Ÿ˜‰ . The leopard BP flats are always a great choice. They are not the most supportive shoes and mine have gotten a little stinky (TMI?) but they are super fun and reasonably priced. Last, the necklace is a hand-me-down piece from my wonderful sister-in-law (thanks, Jamie!). It is from Anthropologie but not sure how long ago.

Thanks for reading,

This last option is a more formal one. Heels are an obvious choice for dressing up a simple black dress. I RARELY wear heels but I feel like it is a must to own a pair for that once in a while evening that heels are perfect for. I try my best to make an outfit work without heels but sometimes there is no avoiding it ๐Ÿ˜‰ . These ones areย Louise et Cie and are pretty comfortable for heels. They are about 3 1/2”, I found that 3” is what I am most comfortable at, 4” is crazy town! After wearing these for a night only one toe was numb for about a day, that’s good right?

Thisย Search for Sanity jacket is so fun and lightweight for summer. It can really dress up an outfit. The necklace is Panacea and is always a great addition to any outfit! I love how different it is. A real conversation starter ๐Ÿ™‚ .ย

A big thanks to my sister, Brionne for all her photography skills!
Action shot!

Here is a look of the simple black dress and the 3 options I chose ๐Ÿ™‚ :

Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

I really enjoyed doing this project and I hope you had fun reading my posts!

Sunday morning, my sister and I woke up early to take pictures (of me ๐Ÿ™‚ ) for the blog. We decided to go at 7am to avoid people, we are no professionals, photographer or model, so the fewer people around the better (so embarrassing!). When choosing the outfits for the shoot, I decided to wear a plain black dress then show different ways to style it. These pictures are of a Tildon dress and BP leopard flats (my fav!). ย I can’t show all the goods in one blog post, so today I will post only the pics of my black dress. The next post will show a different way to style the simple dress.

Working on my pose…

Mother’s Day

I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to debut this outfit. I didn’t want to waste this wild outfit on just anything. Mother’s Day felt fit. This Ro & De skirt is so fun. At first I was not sure what to wear with the stripes, but then I decided to just go for it and wear whatever. Remember, it’s all about taking fashion risks ๐Ÿ™‚ . From the Raga tassel shirt (a crop top, high waisted bottoms are a must or a blouse underneath ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and striped skirt to the leopard BP flats and Geo necklace, this outfit is totally mis-matched but I think that is what makes it so amazing. Oh and the Treasure & Bond jean jacket is always a good choice, it can be thrown on with some colored jeans or a dress.

(My knee is red from crossing my legs, if you were wondering ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Today’s Look

OMG I am so excited about today’s look. From the bow tie down to my mens wear shoes, I am crazy for my outfit.. Before I discuss my outfit in detail, OMFG, after using the restroom I went to pull up my tights and they TORE!!! I tried pulling them up to hide the rip and it GREW! OMG I was so embarrassed, I mean how can a fashion blogger walk around with a rip in her tights? I decided that I would make fun of myself until I could get new tights at lunch. My plan worked… everyone (most people) appreciates a good laugh. There I feel better.

Now, the bow tie is Tok Tok, found on Amazon. The bow tie has an adjustable neck so I didn’t need to fuss with it at all during the day. I have a adorable polka dot bow tie that clips on, I find myself adjusting it during the day. Some may say that the bow tie makes me look like I work at Sees Candy, but haters gonna hate! I don’t care if people do not like them because I LOVE a good bow tie. ๐Ÿ™‚

The blouse is from Nordstrom a few years ago and the skirt is from the Loft (it has pockets!). I was having trouble deciding to tuck or not tuck in my shirt. When I tucked in the shirt, I looked kind of frumpy but I feel like it is a cleaner look to tuck. Well, I ended up not tucking (obviously). Shoes are Halogen. Tights are from Target.. not sure I would recommend them.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today’s Look – Get it Girl

This morning I was rushing to get ready. My kids have been waking up earlier lately and I need to be completely ready before getting the baby out of the crib or I will never have the time. I started out with a beige dress and tights but it was not feeling like a good look for the day. I decided to try the same tights (sheer from Target) with a black skirt (H&M) and a white t-shirt (Tildon from Nordstrom). The necklace (Nordstrom), my wonderful sister-in-law got me went perfect with this outfit. I put on a black H&M blazer and my adorable mens inspired shoes (Halogen) to seal the deal. I thought I looked cute but OMG people at work LOVED my look today. I only got one “full body shot” (YES, this is a bathroom shot, I think this may be my first EVER bathroom shot, not sure that is a good thing) but I got a few other close ups of my shirt.

What I wore

Yesterday I went to a baby shower for a good friend. The night before, ย I was thinking about what kind of outfit is the right outfit to wear to a baby shower, but ย all I could think about were the horrible games I would have to play. Fortunately this baby shower turned out to be very fun and easy (no games were pushed ๐Ÿ™‚ ). Back to the clothes, I decided to wear my straight Paige jeans with my ADORABLE new fancy flats. I chose a easy blue tank top (I get hot really easy, especially in a crowd) and my new jacket (Halogen) that Ryan got me for my birthday. Here’s the thing, I LOVE how this jacket looks BUT I cannot move my arms in it! I literally could not wear it while driving! I mean, is this normal? The necklace is a cute elephant from J Crew. ย Oh and of course my Kate Spade purse (I am obsessed with Kate Spade right now, everything is so classy/timeless ๐Ÿ™‚ ).
