DAY 2 of 6!

We all woke up well rested and excited for our second day in the city. It was about an hour train ride into the city from our friends house, where we were staying. Here’s a pic of Sandra and I at Madison’s adorable train station. Of course with our morning coffees πŸ™‚ .

First stop, Grand Central Station. WOW! The station is beautiful! We took lots of pictures but nothing seemed to turn out awesome.. must have been the cameras fault right? Anyway, here is the only decent full body shot of my outfit for the day. I am crazy for this suede skirt because it goes with so much! I like to wear it with a longer shirt over or a tucked flannel. The shirt is so comfy and can be dressed up (sort of) or dressed down with jeans so easy. It comes with those hanging straps on the inside (which drive me nuts) and I plan to snip those out ASAP! The booties were a cute choice with this outfit but not a cute choice for walking around New York City. My feet were okay but they would have been a lot better in some Nike’s. But we were in the city, I had to dress up right?

After touring the station for a little while, we tried out Dunkin’ Donuts. EVERYBODY says, “you must try Dunkin’ Donuts.” Look, this might offend some people but WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? I think the coffee was alright nothing special (#sorrynotsorry). After drinking our mediocre coffee, we took a taxi to the Rockefeller building.

(Here’s Ryan calling for a taxi. OMG, he isΒ we are such dorks)

While waiting for our “appointment” time to take the elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller, I did some shopping at TOPSHOP πŸ™‚ .

Here is what I got:

The yellow flannel has been on my radar for a while so I knew this was going to be a purchase. The lace-up flats have been all over Instagram lately and I have been drooling! I am so happy to now have a pair! I was between the these and the same ones but with tassels. Sandra and I decided the tassels were too intense. The NY (not from TOPSHOP) hat is just cute (sorry NY, I am only concerned about the cuteness factor. At least I am honest?).

The elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller was 90 seconds of torture. I get motion sickness and they had a crazy strobe light show on the ceiling while we rode up (I was so happy when it stopped!). The views were amazing but I was happy to be back on the ground floor πŸ™‚ .

We ate a late breakfast so we skipped lunch, terrible decision (some of us may have been hangry (hungry+angry=hangry), or maybe that was just me?). We went and wandered through the MET. AMAZING is all I can say. You could spend an entire day just looking at things in the MET. We left after a couple hours in need of dinner.

(I should be embarrassed by this but for some reason I am not)

Reichenbach Hall is where we ended up for dinner. It was a great atmoshphere with delicious chicken wings πŸ™‚ . The beer was pretty good too! After dinner, we checked out the Barcade (video game bar). The dudes had a great time, Sandra and I were exhausted.

Lastly, on our way back to the train station, I saw a Psychic sign. YES! This is not really for everyone but I think it is fun to see what they will say. The woman read my palm for a few seconds (while her dog barked and her kids yelled in the other room) then had some serious predictions. She said: If I am not careful, I will be pregnant with a boy in 7 months (um, no thanks! This mama is done πŸ™‚ ), I will be signing important papers in the next few months, we will be buying a different house in 2 years and I may be changing jobs. She also answered a few random questions of mine. It was a lot of fun, I may or may not have been intoxicated while my reading but I had a blast.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day 2 in NYC, there are 4 more days to come!

Outfit: Top (Free People), Skirt (Hinge), Shoes (Steve Madden), Necklace (Stella&Dot)

YIKES! It has been too long since my last post. SORRY! I have been a little discouraged lately but I am getting back in the “blog” game. BRING IT!

Um, we leave for NYC in one week from tomorrow. Can you believe it? I am so excited and nervous! There is so much to see and do it’s overwhelming. We will be in New Jersey, DC and Virginia at different times during our trip but New York City is all I can think about. The fashion, the sites, the coffee shops, the restaurants.. OMG My husband wants to see historical things the entire trip but I really want to embrace the city and of course go shopping! Looks like there will need to be some compromising, on his end of course πŸ˜‰ .

I feel like I have been planning and preparing for this trip since we booked it MONTHS ago. When I say planning, I really mean our itinerary my outfits. This is NYC, my outfits need to be perfect and on point EVERYDAY! We will be doing so much walking that shoes are important to think about. Comfy Nikes are the obvious choice when walking around Disneyland but this is NYC, I am not wearing running shoes. These UGG sneakers were a great find. They will be perfect and are weather resistant. They will go with several of my outfits I have already thought out in my head. The UGGs are a good compromise from running shoes.

Β Then outfits, It is going to be in the mid-seventies while we are there. Do I wear jeans with a t-shirt or shorts because I will probably be sweating from all the walking? I know, #firstworldproblems.

I have my first outfit planned for our travel day and first day in the city. I will be posting that soon πŸ™‚ .

Thanks for reading,

Oh September, you sure snuck up on me! Although, it is still smoking hot outside and I cannot even think about wearing jeans or socks with shoes (I am sweating thinking about it), I have been peeping out some AMAZEBALL booties for the Fall.

At the beginning of summer, my Husband got some Chukkas and they are adorable, in a cool-dude kind of way. I never thought about myself in a pair of booties like these but when in Rome. I am kind of crazy for these blue ones. They are different from anything I have own and I think that is why I like them so much. Who wears blue shoes? This girl! They come in several other colors too, the bordeaux is a great option too πŸ™‚ .

Bussola ‘Salem’ Chukka bootie – I just love! They would be adorable with skinny jeans, or boyfriend jeans rolled at the bottom.

These Nine West ‘Just This’ ankle bootie is so cute and fun! They really “edge” things up! I like that they are not over the top moto.

These booties areΒ Franco Sarto and would be adorable with jeans, skinny or not, also great with tights and skirts/dresses πŸ™‚ . They can really be dressed up too, which is nice for a work to night out option.

These Franco Sarto booties are so different and I would love to see them on with tights, a skirt and sweater. Oh, I can’t wait for cold weather πŸ™‚ .

I am slightly obsessed with Franco Sarto and Vince Camuto shoes right now πŸ˜‰ . All these booties run between $100-$150. They are great shoes that will last through more than one season πŸ™‚ .

(The little feet in the picture are my youngest, Madison’s. It is not easy to get a picture without these kids sneaking in πŸ™‚ )

Today’s look. These green Rag and Bone jeans have become one of my FAVORITES. (I picked them up at the Anniversary Sale at a much better price!) At first, I was thinking, “what does someone wear with green pants?” Once I got home, I was like, “what can’t you wear with green pants?” The possibilities are endless πŸ™‚ . It’s all about trying new options and putting pieces together to see how they will look. You may surprise yourself! Next, this Halogen shirt (is $25 and comes in several different colors, I also got this piece at the Anniversary Sale for only $15) is an awesome basic. I am CRAZY for a white t-shirt, they are so easy to put on with jeans, a skirt/shorts or GREEN PANTS πŸ˜‰ . The leopard BP flats are always a great choice. They are not the most supportive shoes and mine have gotten a little stinky (TMI?) but they are super fun and reasonably priced. Last, the necklace is a hand-me-down piece from my wonderful sister-in-law (thanks, Jamie!). It is from Anthropologie but not sure how long ago.

Thanks for reading,

This last option is a more formal one. Heels are an obvious choice for dressing up a simple black dress. I RARELY wear heels but I feel like it is a must to own a pair for that once in a while evening that heels are perfect for. I try my best to make an outfit work without heels but sometimes there is no avoiding it πŸ˜‰ . These ones areΒ Louise et Cie and are pretty comfortable for heels. They are about 3 1/2”, I found that 3” is what I am most comfortable at, 4” is crazy town! After wearing these for a night only one toe was numb for about a day, that’s good right?

ThisΒ Search for Sanity jacket is so fun and lightweight for summer. It can really dress up an outfit. The necklace is Panacea and is always a great addition to any outfit! I love how different it is. A real conversation starter πŸ™‚ .Β

A big thanks to my sister, Brionne for all her photography skills!
Action shot!

Here is a look of the simple black dress and the 3 options I chose πŸ™‚ :

Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

I really enjoyed doing this project and I hope you had fun reading my posts!

Mother’s Day

I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to debut this outfit. I didn’t want to waste this wild outfit on just anything. Mother’s Day felt fit. This Ro & De skirt is so fun. At first I was not sure what to wear with the stripes, but then I decided to just go for it and wear whatever. Remember, it’s all about taking fashion risks πŸ™‚ . From the Raga tassel shirt (a crop top, high waisted bottoms are a must or a blouse underneath πŸ™‚ ) and striped skirt to the leopard BP flats and Geo necklace, this outfit is totally mis-matched but I think that is what makes it so amazing. Oh and the Treasure & Bond jean jacket is always a good choice, it can be thrown on with some colored jeans or a dress.

(My knee is red from crossing my legs, if you were wondering πŸ™‚ )

Today’s Look

OMG I am so excited about today’s look. From the bow tie down to my mens wear shoes, I am crazy for my outfit.. Before I discuss my outfit in detail, OMFG, after using the restroom I went to pull up my tights and they TORE!!! I tried pulling them up to hide the rip and it GREW! OMG I was so embarrassed, I mean how can a fashion blogger walk around with a rip in her tights? I decided that I would make fun of myself until I could get new tights at lunch. My plan worked… everyone (most people) appreciates a good laugh. There I feel better.

Now, the bow tie is Tok Tok, found on Amazon. The bow tie has an adjustable neck so I didn’t need to fuss with it at all during the day. I have a adorable polka dot bow tie that clips on, I find myself adjusting it during the day. Some may say that the bow tie makes me look like I work at Sees Candy, but haters gonna hate! I don’t care if people do not like them because I LOVE a good bow tie. πŸ™‚

The blouse is from Nordstrom a few years ago and the skirt is from the Loft (it has pockets!). I was having trouble deciding to tuck or not tuck in my shirt. When I tucked in the shirt, I looked kind of frumpy but I feel like it is a cleaner look to tuck. Well, I ended up not tucking (obviously). Shoes are Halogen. Tights are from Target.. not sure I would recommend them.. πŸ™‚

Today’s Look

Today I went for a comfy/nautical outfit. The tank and cardigan are from the Loft. I have been ISO (in search of) a navy cardigan for a while now. This one is comfy, a little slim in the arms but it is a really nice navy blue. I struggled thinking about how a cardigan is supposed to fit, I mean who writes the rules for this type of decision (just tell me how it should fit! Loose in the arms or fitted? The struggle is real). I started off with navy shorts but it just felt like too much navy so, I went for some denim (Paige Skyline straight). I think brown sandals would have gone better with this outfit but I desperately need a pedicure so shoes were a must. I picked up these Top Sperry’s YEARS ago, in fact I think about 10!? I rarely wear them but every time I do I think, “why don’t I wear these more?”. (I don’t know if that is the right punctuation…) Then a few hours later I remember when my heels are hurting from the backing in the shoes. The shoes are great for half the day. I think a simple gold necklace with a bar or something similar would have been a nice touch but I didn’t like any of my options. Anyway, to complete the outfit, a cross body Kate Spade purse is ALWAYS a great choice πŸ™‚

Did I Forget to Mention?

Did I forget to mention that my Birthday is next week? Guess what bitches, it’s my Birthday next week! It is going to be the last year in my twenties (yikes). My dream Birthday celebration would be going to Las Vegas and seeing Britney Spears! Since that is not going to happen (Ryan is the fun police), I think we are going to dinner, which will be fun to have a night away from the kids. This may sound snobby but I always send Ryan a list with links to items I want, if I don’t the items he chooses are scary! Here are some items below I was thinking about adding to my list this year πŸ™‚

I found some items that are adorable and perfect for the weekend or work (minus the torn jeans for work). I think the blazer is so fun and would be so cute with these school girl shoes. The blazer is Halogen and would also be cute with some black jeans and a white blouse. The jeans are a must for the Spring/Summer. They are Hudson and mid-rise (which I love). The shoes are both a statement and may not be the easiest for some people to wear BUT they are so fun and cute ! I LOVE everything with stripes, they can be dressed up or dressed down. The torn jeans could be worn with the striped shirt and brown shoes.
