Denim Blues

I really only have ONE pair of blue denim that I like. They are high rise, skinny and I got them on sale ๐Ÿ˜ฌ . Why is it so difficult finding the perfect pair/fit/color/rise of jeans? It was like discovering pizza for the first time when I found these. They are my first real “high rise” denim and yes, I wear them almost everyday…. That’s why I am now looking for another pair so I don’t ruin these in a matter of months. Here are the ones I love:

AG High Rise magic ๐Ÿ™‚

The next pair I get need to be high rise for sure and maybe a lighter denim with some holes? My husband would say, “holes? Really? That’s ridiculous!” But what does he know? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I have been considering adventuring to GAP for some nicely priced denim. When I have tried GAP in the past, the denim have stretched too much or they just weren’t comfortable but I am optimistic that I can find a great fitting pair! (I am really trying to not be a jean snob right now) Here is a pair I was checking out online, they are mid-rise and would definitely need to be tried on. I love that they are a totally different look with the loose fit and worn denim. GAP always has a sale online which makes shopping feel a little more guilt free ๐Ÿ˜‰

These are mid rise, not sure if that is high enough for me. These are GAP.

I am OBSESSED with the next pair of jeans! They just look amazing, too bad they are sold out of all sizes but one. Of course they are on sale too. Maybe they will be in your size?

These AG jeans are mid rise as well. The AGs are on the pricey side but the quality is amazing and so comfy.

Lastly, when in doubt just get the jeans you love in another color. RIGHT?

These AG jeans are just a tad different then the first ones posted. If you like these, add them to your wish list and wait for them to go on sale.

Richmond, Virginia was the last leg of our trip. Our wonderful friends, Mike and Mona, hosted us at their super cool loft (thanks again, friends ๐Ÿ™‚ ). Our first thought once in Virginia was, “OMG it’s humid!” ย It went from no rain to downpour in the matter of minutes. Once the rain stopped, we were still wet from the humidity. Minus the humidity, we had a great time with awesome friends!

We arrived around lunch time and once settled in, we set out for lunch and shopping (best day ever). Check out the AMAZING faux fur vests I picked up ๐Ÿ™‚ ย because everyone needs 2 right. ย They serve different purposes… The pleather pants are just fun. Although, I wore them the other night and they were not quite as comfortable as I thought they would be (I could barely keep them up over my butt and it was a little hard to sit, TMI?) but they are still super cute and fun. The things girls do to look cute…

Notice the crazy cool necklace? I got the vest and pleather pants from a place called Traveling Chic Boutiqueย (check out the page, it’s a real cool place). The girls working were hilarious, they kept talking to a mannequin that they were trying to dress and saying all kinds of funny mean comments about the body, I peaked my head from the dressing room and said, ” you’re not talking about me right?” We all starting laughing, maybe you had to be there? The vest and necklace on the right are from Fab’rik. ย Ryan thinks the necklace is awful, but I LOVE it! I say, the uglier the better ๐Ÿ™‚ . It’s actually really cool. The people working at Fab’rik said while in Richmond, we needed to eat as much as possible because the food is amazing. So we did.

We had to try some southern BBQ. We ate at Buzz and Ned’s. I loved my wings, Ryan thought his ribs could have been better.

Um, in Richmond, they have a 24 hour fresh cookie delivery service, AMAZING!

We ended our trip with a super fun and cute boat ride. We were the only 4 people on the boat so the driver spent a little extra time letting us look for turtles, if you know me, you know how I feel about turtles ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip,

Highlights from our trip:

Big Bus tour in NYC, Book of Mormon, visiting with friends and of course shopping! Oh and of course coming home to our sweet girls ๐Ÿ™‚ .

(The little feet in the picture are my youngest, Madison’s. It is not easy to get a picture without these kids sneaking in ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Today’s look. These green Rag and Bone jeans have become one of my FAVORITES. (I picked them up at the Anniversary Sale at a much better price!) At first, I was thinking, “what does someone wear with green pants?” Once I got home, I was like, “what can’t you wear with green pants?” The possibilities are endless ๐Ÿ™‚ . It’s all about trying new options and putting pieces together to see how they will look. You may surprise yourself! Next, this Halogen shirt (is $25 and comes in several different colors, I also got this piece at the Anniversary Sale for only $15) is an awesome basic. I am CRAZY for a white t-shirt, they are so easy to put on with jeans, a skirt/shorts or GREEN PANTS ๐Ÿ˜‰ . The leopard BP flats are always a great choice. They are not the most supportive shoes and mine have gotten a little stinky (TMI?) but they are super fun and reasonably priced. Last, the necklace is a hand-me-down piece from my wonderful sister-in-law (thanks, Jamie!). It is from Anthropologie but not sure how long ago.

Thanks for reading,

This last option is a more formal one. Heels are an obvious choice for dressing up a simple black dress. I RARELY wear heels but I feel like it is a must to own a pair for that once in a while evening that heels are perfect for. I try my best to make an outfit work without heels but sometimes there is no avoiding it ๐Ÿ˜‰ . These ones areย Louise et Cie and are pretty comfortable for heels. They are about 3 1/2”, I found that 3” is what I am most comfortable at, 4” is crazy town! After wearing these for a night only one toe was numb for about a day, that’s good right?

Thisย Search for Sanity jacket is so fun and lightweight for summer. It can really dress up an outfit. The necklace is Panacea and is always a great addition to any outfit! I love how different it is. A real conversation starter ๐Ÿ™‚ .ย

A big thanks to my sister, Brionne for all her photography skills!
Action shot!

Here is a look of the simple black dress and the 3 options I chose ๐Ÿ™‚ :

Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

I really enjoyed doing this project and I hope you had fun reading my posts!

Extreme closeup!

Here is the first option I chose to wear with this dress. I LOVE the idea of mixing casual with fancy, whether it’s a t-shirt with a fancy-ish skirt or in this case, a dress with a flannel and converse. I am crazy for Converse, I think this is my 3rd or 4th pair. Just a fun fact, they wash really well! I wore my white pair camping (I know terrible idea) and they washed back to crisp white. My girls have the pink velcro Converse (going on their 3rd pair) and they wash well too ๐Ÿ™‚ . I went with this could-be-casual-or-dressed-up necklace, courtesy of my sister-in-law; Thank you Jamie! The flannel is actually denim and it is SO comfy and great to wear with light jeans, or unbuttoned as a third piece. The sleeves rolled gives the shirt a cuter look. I don’t know how I came up with this outfit, it just came to me as I was looking into my closet trying to figure out what to do. It is unexpected and I think that is what I like most about it. This outfit could be worn during the day, running around with the kids and then you could trade out the Converse for heels and take off the denim shirt for a night out. The necklace would still be great for going out. Here are lots of pics from our “photo shoot,” I hope you enjoy! Thanks again Bri for helping!!

My sister said to pretend like I was talking to someone… great suggestion…

Mom Days

I feel like I buy clothes often and I wear most of them to work but as soon as I get home I revert back to my jean shorts and t-shirt. WHY!!?? I hate going into my closet and feeling like I have nothing to wear or the things I do have I don’t want to mess up while hanging with the kids. Let’s be honest, If something is dry clean only that item is not going anywhere near our kids! I found somewhat of a solution. I can wear my usual v-neck with jean shorts but instead of throwing on my grey Toms, I wear a pair of flats and a necklace. I am not much of a heel or wedge wearer but more power to you if you are. You can still wear Toms or Converse, just be sure to add a third/finishing piece (vest, opened button down, necklace, jacket). Just taking an extra step on your easy outfit will make you feel better while out. Peep out your closet and try something different ๐Ÿ™‚ . Remember, it doesn’t need to be anything fancy. Comfort is key when chasing kids ๐Ÿ™‚ .

I can’t believe I have not posted about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale!! OMG there are a some MUST haves! First, I must confess why I have been so distracted lately. I was posting a few times a week until recently. 50 Shades of Grey. I know you must be rolling your eyes but at least I am honest… OMG I am not a reader normally but these books have taken over my life in the past few weeks. My husband thinks it’s an inner freak in me but really it is more about the story in these books. I literally read every chance I get, hence the lack of posts lately. I find myself wanting to use quotes from the book, I almost emailed my Director the other day saying “we aim to please.” OKAY, THERE I feel better ๐Ÿ™‚ . ย Now, back to the Nordstrom sale.

Oh, these boots! Frye boots happen to be my favorite brand of boots. They are a little on the pricey side BUT they are well made and will last a lifetime (maybe?). I love the color of these, you can wear them with jeans (light or dark), a skirt or a dress. The options are endless! They can be worn with pretty much any color shirt or dress. At first I thought they were too western for me but I decided to get over it because they are adorable.

These high-rise Rag & Bone jeans. Who buys green pants? This girl does. I love that they are a dark green so it’s not like wearing neon colored pants. They are different which makes any outfit original. They are a fun spin on typical colored denim jeans. Do not let these intimidate you, wear them with any top you would normally pair with jeans. I love that they are skinny and would be super cute with boots! ย _10671530

I am not normally into the 2fer type shirts but this one tugged at my heart. Once tried on, I was in love. This Treasure & Bond sweater comes in more colors but I think this is the best choice. This could be worn with denim jeans or the green ones above would be super cute. Although, would the green and red be too festive around Christmas time? I think it would be okay.

I apologize for this picture, it is kind of awkward!

OMG this Top Shop biker vest. The Top Shop sizes are weird, I see lots of stuff I want but nothing seems to fit me right, does this happen to other people too? Back to the vest. ย I am not really a “rough” dresser but this vest is adorable. If I get this vest I imagine myself wearing it with the sweater above, dark denim skinny jeans and some white converse, doesn’t that sound adorable? Well, if not then maybe a white shirt underneath, skinny jeans and flats (cheetah of course ๐Ÿ™‚ ). This is a little out there but I love it and it would be a fun piece to have. Yes, I did try it on and this Top Shop item actually fits me!

This years sale is a good one, definitely worth peeping out ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Romper Time

Let’s talk about rompers. I have a love-hate relationship with them. I LOVE them but my body hates them (well, hate is strong word). I don’t think I am a giant but I seem to be a little on the tall side for the rompers I have tried. I am no quitter so I will continue to try and find one ๐Ÿ™‚ . The one I tried was ADORABLE! But, by the end of the night it kept creeping up and people could see my Spanx (no shame). Seriously, Spanx showing under your clothes is no way to live. I did some online searching and these are the ones that I am excited to try:

This romper by Chelsea28 is so cute and fun, I love the scalloped cut detail. This romper would be adorable with the heels like the ones in the picture or some patterned flats and of course a long shiny necklace ๐Ÿ™‚ .

OMG this Ella Moss romper is the PERFECT thing to wear on a night out. It is so swanky. I love this! The pattern is amazing and so different. Nude heels would be great or a black/nude flat, for those that do no do heels (ME).

I like how this Stem romper is a little more on the casual side but can easily be dressed up with a fancy necklace and heels. I worry about it creeping up from the soft fabric but I think it’s worth the risk.

OMG, please don’t do the strapless romper, it’s already short so no need to go without straps. I am on the conservative side so I say choose legs or boobs but please not both.

I am on the fence about this Soft Joie print jumpsuit (jumpsuit or romper? IDK). I like the idea of a jumpsuit but I don’t think they are for me, maybe they are too serious for me, I don’t know. If I were to do a pant one I say go crazy or go home, I mean, why not?

I hope you find my romper advice helpful. Just remember, boobs or legs, not both and camel toe is not a good look on anyone ๐Ÿ™‚

Love or Hate?

When I shop for clothes I either LOVE or I HATE, there is no in-between. Today, I did some in-store and online “window shopping” and I found some LOVE items. Usually I peep out what is online before going into the store (Nordstrom mostly), so I know what I am looking for. Although I could spend hours at the mall I have learned to shop more efficiently since I usually have at least on of the kids with me. Last night, I saw some ADORABLE torn jeans (AG brand which I never tried but I have been wanting to for a while), yes I have torn jeans but I seem to be wearing them A LOT lately and thought it would be good to get another pair but in a different wash. The AG jeans I found are a “skinny boyfriend fit.” Normally I wear jeans pretty tight so I thought it would be nice to try something a little different. Anyway, I went in today after work (thank you mom for babysitting) and tried them on and LOVED them!

The sandals in the picture are horrible but I think the jeans are adorable and different.

Next, I have been on the hunt for a good pair of summer sandals (easy to wear and dress up or dress down). I like these because they are simple with some super cute gold accents. I am crazy for gold and I like that they are not very high. These are Steve Madden._10287507

The white v-neck is ALWAYS a good choice and so easy to LOVE. I think these three items could be worn together easily, ooh and a adorable necklace would tie it all together. The v-neck is Stem and the necklace is BP.

I know what you are thinking, is it okay to wear gold and silver together? To be honest, I ย don’t know but I think it is good to try new things ๐Ÿ™‚
