OOTD Roundup

Wow, It has been a while and a lot has happened since my last post. I turned 30!! OMG! 30 is not scary but it does make me feel like an old broad. I mean, do I need to start wearing loafers and khakis? Not this girl – eek! (no offense if khakis and loafers are your outfit of choice) I am excited and ready to embrace my thirties. πŸ™‚

My 30th birthday was a week long celebration with a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the kids, lunch with work friends, pizza party with our families and a night out with friends. πŸ™‚

Here’s a roundup of pictures from my 30th Birthday Party at Mikunis πŸ™‚ I am crazy for sushi! Yes, guys were there too but it is so much more fun to take pictures with the ladies!

My sisters and a full body shot of my look for the night.Β

Oh this dress! It is ASTR and amazing. I love the blue and black together. Does this make anyone else happy? I think people used to say that black and blue do not go together but I think they compliment each other well. I wore a sparkly black blazer over the dress but didn’t get a clear picture! UGH! This outfit deserves a photo shoot it was soooo good.

Now, to my recent looks. I post my outfits daily on Instagram (@omgandmore), this is a great way to see what I wear everyday (outfit of the day, #ootd). Does that sound like I think I am cool because I don’t actually think I am cool but If you like my blog then you may like my Instagram too. πŸ˜‰

Boot Update

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry! I got the over the knee boots and decided to return them, they were beautiful but I think my legs are a little skinny for them (first world problems). They were too baggy by the end of the evening and I just couldn’t look past it. I literally lost sleep over the decision to keep or return the Seychelles boots. Yes, I am being serious πŸ™„. Β I still have the dream of owning a pair of boots like these and I am on the search for the perfect fit.

Here is the look I put together to debut the boots. They are definitely a going out boot and not an everyday boot, in my opinion.

My husband has really stepped up his fashion game πŸ™‚ .

This look was so fun to pick out! The black dress and drapey jacket are from the Juniors department in Nordstrom. The necklace is Stella and Dot. I have become obsessed with their jewelry. The quality is amazing and every piece is so special πŸ™‚ .

They are too baggy right? Or, am I just crazy?!

I will keep you updated on my boot hunt! With the change of season coming, I may wait until the next winter, unless these go on sale then I may consider them a half size down to see if that helps with the bagginess. I am a true 8.5 but got these in a 9 because that is all that was available. Unless I find something that fits better πŸ˜‰ .

On a different note, today is the one year anniversary of my blog! YAY! I can’t believe it has been a year. I created this blog when I was feeling blah and a little sad. I wanted to create something for me, outside of being a mommy, that I enjoyed and could be an outlet for my fashion obsession. OMGANDMORE has been such an amazing way for me to express myself and share my love for fashion πŸ™‚ . Thank you for reading!

Virginia

Richmond, Virginia was the last leg of our trip. Our wonderful friends, Mike and Mona, hosted us at their super cool loft (thanks again, friends πŸ™‚ ). Our first thought once in Virginia was, “OMG it’s humid!” Β It went from no rain to downpour in the matter of minutes. Once the rain stopped, we were still wet from the humidity. Minus the humidity, we had a great time with awesome friends!

We arrived around lunch time and once settled in, we set out for lunch and shopping (best day ever). Check out the AMAZING faux fur vests I picked up πŸ™‚ Β because everyone needs 2 right. Β They serve different purposes… The pleather pants are just fun. Although, I wore them the other night and they were not quite as comfortable as I thought they would be (I could barely keep them up over my butt and it was a little hard to sit, TMI?) but they are still super cute and fun. The things girls do to look cute…

Notice the crazy cool necklace? I got the vest and pleather pants from a place called Traveling Chic BoutiqueΒ (check out the page, it’s a real cool place). The girls working were hilarious, they kept talking to a mannequin that they were trying to dress and saying all kinds of funny mean comments about the body, I peaked my head from the dressing room and said, ” you’re not talking about me right?” We all starting laughing, maybe you had to be there? The vest and necklace on the right are from Fab’rik. Β Ryan thinks the necklace is awful, but I LOVE it! I say, the uglier the better πŸ™‚ . It’s actually really cool. The people working at Fab’rik said while in Richmond, we needed to eat as much as possible because the food is amazing. So we did.

IMG_5322

IMG_5323

We had to try some southern BBQ. We ate at Buzz and Ned’s. I loved my wings, Ryan thought his ribs could have been better.

IMG_5311

Um, in Richmond, they have a 24 hour fresh cookie delivery service, AMAZING!

IMG_5331

We ended our trip with a super fun and cute boat ride. We were the only 4 people on the boat so the driver spent a little extra time letting us look for turtles, if you know me, you know how I feel about turtles πŸ™‚ .

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip,

Caitlyn

Highlights from our trip:

Big Bus tour in NYC, Book of Mormon, visiting with friends and of course shopping! Oh and of course coming home to our sweet girls πŸ™‚ .

EAST COAST DAY 2

DAY 2 of 6!

We all woke up well rested and excited for our second day in the city. It was about an hour train ride into the city from our friends house, where we were staying. Here’s a pic of Sandra and I at Madison’s adorable train station. Of course with our morning coffees πŸ™‚ .

IMG_5224

First stop, Grand Central Station. WOW! The station is beautiful! We took lots of pictures but nothing seemed to turn out awesome.. must have been the cameras fault right? Anyway, here is the only decent full body shot of my outfit for the day. I am crazy for this suede skirt because it goes with so much! I like to wear it with a longer shirt over or a tucked flannel. The shirt is so comfy and can be dressed up (sort of) or dressed down with jeans so easy. It comes with those hanging straps on the inside (which drive me nuts) and I plan to snip those out ASAP! The booties were a cute choice with this outfit but not a cute choice for walking around New York City. My feet were okay but they would have been a lot better in some Nike’s. But we were in the city, I had to dress up right?

After touring the station for a little while, we tried out Dunkin’ Donuts. EVERYBODY says, “you must try Dunkin’ Donuts.” Look, this might offend some people but WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? I think the coffee was alright nothing special (#sorrynotsorry). After drinking our mediocre coffee, we took a taxi to the Rockefeller building.

IMG_5235

(Here’s Ryan calling for a taxi. OMG, he isΒ we are such dorks)

While waiting for our “appointment” time to take the elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller, I did some shopping at TOPSHOP πŸ™‚ .

Here is what I got:

IMG_5345

The yellow flannel has been on my radar for a while so I knew this was going to be a purchase. The lace-up flats have been all over Instagram lately and I have been drooling! I am so happy to now have a pair! I was between the these and the same ones but with tassels. Sandra and I decided the tassels were too intense. The NY (not from TOPSHOP) hat is just cute (sorry NY, I am only concerned about the cuteness factor. At least I am honest?).

The elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller was 90 seconds of torture. I get motion sickness and they had a crazy strobe light show on the ceiling while we rode up (I was so happy when it stopped!). The views were amazing but I was happy to be back on the ground floor πŸ™‚ .

SDC12038

We ate a late breakfast so we skipped lunch, terrible decision (some of us may have been hangry (hungry+angry=hangry), or maybe that was just me?). We went and wandered through the MET. AMAZING is all I can say. You could spend an entire day just looking at things in the MET. We left after a couple hours in need of dinner.

SDC12046

(I should be embarrassed by this but for some reason I am not)

SDC12051

Reichenbach Hall is where we ended up for dinner. It was a great atmoshphere with delicious chicken wings πŸ™‚ . The beer was pretty good too! After dinner, we checked out the Barcade (video game bar). The dudes had a great time, Sandra and I were exhausted.

Lastly, on our way back to the train station, I saw a Psychic sign. YES! This is not really for everyone but I think it is fun to see what they will say. The woman read my palm for a few seconds (while her dog barked and her kids yelled in the other room) then had some serious predictions. She said: If I am not careful, I will be pregnant with a boy in 7 months (um, no thanks! This mama is done πŸ™‚ ), I will be signing important papers in the next few months, we will be buying a different house in 2 years and I may be changing jobs. She also answered a few random questions of mine. It was a lot of fun, I may or may not have been intoxicated while my reading but I had a blast.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day 2 in NYC, there are 4 more days to come!

FINAL OPTION

This last option is a more formal one. Heels are an obvious choice for dressing up a simple black dress. I RARELY wear heels but I feel like it is a must to own a pair for that once in a while evening that heels are perfect for. I try my best to make an outfit work without heels but sometimes there is no avoiding it πŸ˜‰ . These ones areΒ Louise et Cie and are pretty comfortable for heels. They are about 3 1/2”, I found that 3” is what I am most comfortable at, 4” is crazy town! After wearing these for a night only one toe was numb for about a day, that’s good right?

OPTION ONE

Extreme closeup!

Here is the first option I chose to wear with this dress. I LOVE the idea of mixing casual with fancy, whether it’s a t-shirt with a fancy-ish skirt or in this case, a dress with a flannel and converse. I am crazy for Converse, I think this is my 3rd or 4th pair. Just a fun fact, they wash really well! I wore my white pair camping (I know terrible idea) and they washed back to crisp white. My girls have the pink velcro Converse (going on their 3rd pair) and they wash well too πŸ™‚ . I went with this could-be-casual-or-dressed-up necklace, courtesy of my sister-in-law; Thank you Jamie! The flannel is actually denim and it is SO comfy and great to wear with light jeans, or unbuttoned as a third piece. The sleeves rolled gives the shirt a cuter look. I don’t know how I came up with this outfit, it just came to me as I was looking into my closet trying to figure out what to do. It is unexpected and I think that is what I like most about it. This outfit could be worn during the day, running around with the kids and then you could trade out the Converse for heels and take off the denim shirt for a night out. The necklace would still be great for going out. Here are lots of pics from our “photo shoot,” I hope you enjoy! Thanks again Bri for helping!!

SEE YOU LATER

Saying goodbye is too emotional for me so I like to say “see you later.” Our best family fiends are moving away to Texas and we could not be more sad

IMG_4072

Anyway, we had a going away party for our friends and we must discuss my outfit. Oh, this Anthropologie dress (got this last year in Vegas πŸ™‚ ,) the leopard BP flats and Baublebar cuff. I used to be afraid of pattern mixing but fashion is about taking risks and it is no fun to be boring. I love that the flats and dress pattern clash, it makes things interesting. The gold cuff just felt fun and right with the outfit.

#ootd

It is smoking hot outside today! Here is my outfit from this morning, I changed into shorts minutes after this photo. It could be worn with jeans or a dress, even shorts. I am crazy for this Search for Sanity jacket. It is so lightweight and can really dress up an outfit. The jeans are high-waisted Paige, the necklace is Panacea, elephant necklace is J Crew and the shoes are BP. You can’t really tell by this picture (sorry for the quality) but the shirt has ruffles which is super flattering. The long necklaces makes the outfit “different” and interesting. I love to pair items that your wouldn’t normally put together, it’s like getting something new without buying anything!Β Β Β Β Β

This kid photobombs all of my pics. I seriously need to take some posing classes. Don’t mind the fruit snack on the floor πŸ™‚ .

Β This is what happens when you ask your husband to take your picture. Thanks, Ryan.

Not about Fashion

Ocean Cove, California

Sorry, for the delayed post.. we have been camping. Oh man, where do I start? We took our girls (1 and 4) and our 2 awful chihuahuas (they actually turned out to be natural campers, so this trip, they weren’t so awful). Tying fashion into camping is tricky. I didn’t want to bring anything I wouldn’t be okay with getting stained or ripped. Unfortunately, when I purged my closet, I did not keep anything old or camp worthy. I brought some Zella leggings, Converse and some easy t-shirts. I had actually packed some adorable flannel shirts but I ended up staying in the t-shirts with a comfy fleece (The North Face is ALWAYS the perfect choice of fleece).

The evenings were FREEZING and WINDY! YIKES! The first night my oldest daughter got a horrible bloody nose after she jumped on one of our dogs and the dog bit her nose (this is the first time this has happened with our dogs). OMG this was crazy. Got her cleaned up and we finally went to bed. A few hours into the night and the same daughter woke up with a night terror. OMG she was screaming and not even awake. I am pretty sure the “tent” campers hated us. Don’t even get me started on my RV envy. Seriously, a RV showed up after us and was already BBQing while we were still trying to set up our tent. The second day we walked down to the beach. The kids learned about the cycle of life when we saw a dead seal (it was super sad :/ ). That night I woke up covered in pee from my daughter. GET ME OUT OF HERE is what I said when we woke up.

The trip was actually a pretty good experience but challenging with young kids. We will try camping again… in a while..

I can’t even believe I am posting this picture. This outfit is terrible but I was all about comfort.

Oh This Dress

IMG_3758

OMG! It was our 5 year wedding anniversary yesterday (also my daughter’s 4th birthday). My husband surprised me with this checkered, Anthropologie dress (he got the idea from an earlier blog post πŸ™‚ ). Oh, hot-diggity-dog this dress is so adorable! It felt right to tie a thin brown belt around the waist and I was right πŸ™‚ . The belt is from Hollister, years ago and the sandals are Steve Madden.

Oh, how do you feel about the new haircut? It is a lot shorter. People keep asking me why I decided to cut my hair off. Honestly, I don’t know. I was waiting to get my hair done looking at pictures of haircuts on my phone and I decided to just go for it and try something crazy. I used to have short hair years ago so I don’t feel that weird with it. My Husband has been VERY supportive of my fashion blog and he always suggests mixing stuff up and looking “fresh.” Well. if you are contemplating cutting your hair, just go for it, it’s summer and it will always grow back πŸ™‚ .
