My Latest Business Adventure

Hello! So, you all know how much I LOVE clothes and accessories really are the finishing touch to ANY look – casual or fancy. I hear lots of women say, “but I wouldn’t know what to wear that with.” Here’s the thing, the only way to get comfortable with wearing accessories is by just going for it and trying new things out. Amazing outfits don’t always come out of the first look you put on, it takes throwing on pieces in your closet that might go together and finding great looks out of what you weren’t sure of. Well, sometimes the amazing outfits will come from the first look you put together but not always πŸ˜‰ I recently started as a Stylist for Stella & Dot. Have you heard of them? If you haven’t, you need to stop what you’re doing and follow this link now! http://www.stelladot.com/caitlyndavis I want to share some of my favorite pieces and different ways I have styled them.

First, the Rebel Pendant (comes in silver, gold and rose gold) is an easy piece to throw on with anything. Often, I will put on the Rebel over jean shorts and a white T-shirt. It just adds a cute element to what was a plain outfit. So easy for the moms out there looking for something quick.

Next, the Chiara. OMG, at first I was not crazy about this necklace, but after layering it over a denim shirt – forget about it. I am obsessed with this piece. It is so great for girls night, date night, work or just wearing it because it’s super cute.

The Freya Fringe, is probably my ultimate favorite piece. It can be worn several different ways but my favorite are short and long. This piece is so versatile. I took this to New York and basically wore it the entire time even though I brought several pieces with me. This may seem a little intimidating to some but TRUST me, this will really add some sparkle to your wardrobe and you won’t believe all the compliments you will receive.

There’s so many more amazing pieces from Stella & Dot! Check out their website and let me know what you think πŸ˜‰ http://www.stelladot.com/caitlyndavis

OOTD Roundup

Wow, It has been a while and a lot has happened since my last post. I turned 30!! OMG! 30 is not scary but it does make me feel like an old broad. I mean, do I need to start wearing loafers and khakis? Not this girl – eek! (no offense if khakis and loafers are your outfit of choice) I am excited and ready to embrace my thirties. πŸ™‚

My 30th birthday was a week long celebration with a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the kids, lunch with work friends, pizza party with our families and a night out with friends. πŸ™‚

IMG_1325
Here’s a roundup of pictures from my 30th Birthday Party at Mikunis πŸ™‚ I am crazy for sushi! Yes, guys were there too but it is so much more fun to take pictures with the ladies!

My sisters and a full body shot of my look for the night.Β

Oh this dress! It is ASTR and amazing. I love the blue and black together. Does this make anyone else happy? I think people used to say that black and blue do not go together but I think they compliment each other well. I wore a sparkly black blazer over the dress but didn’t get a clear picture! UGH! This outfit deserves a photo shoot it was soooo good.

Now, to my recent looks. I post my outfits daily on Instagram (@omgandmore), this is a great way to see what I wear everyday (outfit of the day, #ootd). Does that sound like I think I am cool because I don’t actually think I am cool but If you like my blog then you may like my Instagram too. πŸ˜‰

Boot Update

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry! I got the over the knee boots and decided to return them, they were beautiful but I think my legs are a little skinny for them (first world problems). They were too baggy by the end of the evening and I just couldn’t look past it. I literally lost sleep over the decision to keep or return the Seychelles boots. Yes, I am being serious πŸ™„. Β I still have the dream of owning a pair of boots like these and I am on the search for the perfect fit.

Here is the look I put together to debut the boots. They are definitely a going out boot and not an everyday boot, in my opinion.

My husband has really stepped up his fashion game πŸ™‚ .

This look was so fun to pick out! The black dress and drapey jacket are from the Juniors department in Nordstrom. The necklace is Stella and Dot. I have become obsessed with their jewelry. The quality is amazing and every piece is so special πŸ™‚ .

They are too baggy right? Or, am I just crazy?!

I will keep you updated on my boot hunt! With the change of season coming, I may wait until the next winter, unless these go on sale then I may consider them a half size down to see if that helps with the bagginess. I am a true 8.5 but got these in a 9 because that is all that was available. Unless I find something that fits better πŸ˜‰ .

On a different note, today is the one year anniversary of my blog! YAY! I can’t believe it has been a year. I created this blog when I was feeling blah and a little sad. I wanted to create something for me, outside of being a mommy, that I enjoyed and could be an outlet for my fashion obsession. OMGANDMORE has been such an amazing way for me to express myself and share my love for fashion πŸ™‚ . Thank you for reading!

NOT MUCH OF A SALE I’D SAY

If you don’t know already, I am Nordstrom obsessed. My friends and family think I buy everything expensive and full-priced. Yes, I am a mall rat and yes, I have a shopping problem. I mean, at least I admit it right? The truth is, I put items I want in my ‘wish list’ and wait until they go on sale before I buy them, unless it is something amazing and I need it right away! In the case of a must-have-emergency, I will still place my new item in my ‘wish list’ on Nordstrom.com and if it goes on sale within a couple weeks they will price adjust. πŸ™‚ Anyway, the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on so of course I checked all the items on my list first thing when the sale started a few days ago. Sadly, only a few of my items were on sale. I browsed the sale online and I am a little disappointed. I mean, is a Marc by Marc Jacobs or Rebecca Minkoff Hobo bag marked half-off too much to ask for? Not sure what I was hoping for but there just wasn’t anything AMAZING. (first world problems) Of course I still bought a few things. πŸ™‚

I first saw this shirt a month or so ago and did not like it. Love is not always at first sight. After seeing it a few times and finally trying it on, I was hooked. I wore it to work today under a v-neck sweater and it was adorable.

This sweater was love at first sight. I am crazy for stripes and anything oversized.

I love anything menswear inspired and suitable for a bowtie.

Yes, I am also obsessed with the Treasure and Bond brand.

JACKET-OBSESSED

IMG_6388

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably thought to yourself, “is she really wearing that adorable leather jacket again?” (You may have thought that without the adorable mixed in πŸ™‚ ) I had planned on getting the leather Treasure and Bond jacket after Christmas with gift cards because it was a little pricey. Two weeks ago, the jacket was showing unavailable online. I was in a panic! I called the online customer service immediately, yes I was at work and whispering while making my really important phone call. They were able to add it to my shopping bag so I had no choice but to order it. (It was clearly a life or death making decision) Luckily, I have a Nordstrom card in my name so my husband can’t see my purchases. Yes, I really just admitted to that and no I’m not sorry.

IMG_6408

Okay, enough about the story behind the jacket. A few years ago I would have never imagined myself in a black leather moto jacket. What does a person wear with it? Would I look like I belonged in a biker gang? A leather jacket felt intimidating at the time but my style has really evolved and I love taking risks.

I started by only wearing the jacket on “fancy” nights out then with jeans and a t-shirt. This morning I was getting ready to run errands and I was deciding between my new awesome jacket or a comfy sweatshirt. Yes, a sweatshirt would have been cozy but I chose the new jacket. No, I wasn’t as comfy but I felt better and more put together. Although, this jacket is REALLY soft and easy to wear. I love wearing it with jeans, skirts or black pants πŸ™‚ . Well, now you know about my new obsession.

BLACK FRIDAY

Oh the sales! For my family, it is a tradition to fight the crowds on Black Friday. I am sure lots of people think we are crazy. Thursday night, my sisters and I went to Target and Kohls. I came straight from Thanksgiving dinner so I was dressed a little fancy for shopping.

I look exhausted in this picture. It was only about 8… Look, I am trying to work on being more photogenic. These things take time! πŸ™‚

These are my first true high-rise jeans and I don’t think I will every buy a different rise now. Yes, they go up to my belly button and no it doesn’t bother me. I felt weird for about a day wearing them but I am in love now. If you haven’t tried a high-rise, you need to. They just fit so amazing and make me feel more confident with my body. The ASTR deep v-neck shirt was an item I picked up on sale right before the Black Friday sale at Nordstrom (Of course it is no longer available, sorry! On Black Friday it was marked down an extra 20%) along with the adorable booties. OMG these booties. I am in love, they are the perfect color (they also come in several other amazing colors) and I am crazy for the laced-up style. The outfit is a little random but I think it came together nicely. The flannel under the dressy shirt was something fun I wanted to try. I like the idea of mixing fancy with causal, it makes things interesting. Fashion is about taking risks right?

DAY 5

DAY 5

Our second day in DC was a lot of fun. One of my good friends moved to DC a few years ago and we were able to meet up with her and her husband for lunch AND dinner πŸ™‚ .We started the day with an awesome lunch at a local spot then toured the American History Museum and the Air and Space Museum (which was amazing!).

IMG_5294

The day felt like a hat day to me. No, I don’t care about the NY team but I do care about how adorable the hat is. #sorrynotsorry I was all about comfort. The picture above is of my good friend Monica and I πŸ™‚ .

IMG_5296

(I am wearing a v-neck from Nordstrom Rack that I got for $10, Hudson jean shorts, NY hat from a city tourist store and UGG shoes πŸ™‚ )

After the museums, I was beat (let’s be honest, I spent more time in the gift shops than in the museums). We had a fun dinner in Georgetown which was super cute and I wish we could have spent more time in the town. I was really hoping to do some shopping but the stores were closing early and I felt guilty dragging our friends around (maybe not that guilty πŸ™‚ ). After dinner, we set out to Richmond. We found a random, cheap hotel on Groupon for the night because our friends in Richmond were getting back late that night from Europe and we didn’t want them to have to entertain us. The hotel was, um… a little sketchy…. but it worked out fine. Although, Ryan forgot a bag of alcohol and wine for our friends! So lame!

Saw this gem in a local liquor store and I couldn’t resist taking a picture!

Only 2 more days left on our trip to share!

DC

DAY 4

Sunday morning we slept in, said goodbye to our friends and left for DC. We had a rental car specifically for this drive. We had hoped to stop in Philly but due to the Pope’s visit we were not able to (not bitter or anything). Once in DC, we checked in and headed to the downtown area to take the night bus tour. Ryan insisted that I take a pic in front of the FBI building (HI!).

(Dinner before the night tour)

In NYC, the adrenaline of the city was amazing and I wanted to look my best everyday. As soon as we got to DC, it just wasn’t the same vibe (for me at least, sorry DC) and I seemed to hit my “wall” of exhaustion. The DC night tour was awesome but lasted a hour longer than supposed to so we didn’t get back to the hotel until about midnight. We then hit the bar for some drinks πŸ™‚

DAY 3 – BROOKLYN YOU HAVE MY HEART

Day 3

From Madison, NJ we drove to Brooklyn. For some reason, I expected Brooklyn to be grungy and a little scary but it was quite the opposite (at least the area we were in). OMG, Brooklyn, it was love at first bite of a duck wing. We started at the Smorgasbord. The food options were AMAZING! I tried duck, coconut (yes, I have tried coconut before but never in such a fun way) and Lumpia (I know random, I just couldn’t decide and it sounded delicious).

IMG_5244 IMG_5240 IMG_5241 IMG_5243IMG_5245
(At first I felt a little sad about the duck but I just tried not to think about singing rubber ducky to my kids)

IMG_5247

Can you see the little mouse door? How fun is that!?

The thing I loved about Brooklyn so much was the feeling I had while there. Everyone was dressed like they had their own fashion blog and the shopping was awesome! A lot of flea shopping with handmade jewelry and several boutiques with unique clothing. I felt safe and it was just a cool place. My purchase while in Brooklyn was a pair of cloth Dr. Martens. It’s funny because when Β I was in Junior High/ High School, my sisters and I owned pairs of Doc’s but got rid of all of them and now they are back!? Fashion is funny. They are adorable but I have not worn them yet, I think I am waiting for the weather to cool down.

IMG_5348

The Dr. Martins are a different look, I am trying to not let them intimidate me and just go for it πŸ™‚

That night, we had tickets to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway. We changed our clothes in the car, yes in the car and we set out for sushi then the show. Wow, the show was AMAZING and hilarious! Definitely a must see, unless you are offended easily, then maybe not…

For the evening, I chose to wear this Wayf faux suede blue dress with Vince Camuto heels and a Stella and Dot necklace. The dress is fun and different than anything else I own (minus the brown faux suede skirt I own but that’s different cause it’s a not the same color and not a skirt, right?). After the show, we went to a rooftop bar for drinks. The night was so fun πŸ™‚ .

EAST COAST DAY 1

We started planning for our trip to the East Coast back in January after reconnecting Β with some friends in Hawaii for a wedding. Our friends offered to host us in New Jersey and the other’s in Richmond, Virginia. I have a friend living in DC, so we mapped out our trip and began working on our itinerary. The first 3 days were spent in New Jersey (although, we went into NYC everyday πŸ™‚ ), then DC for 2 days and Virginia for the last 2 days.

Packing, I don’t like to over pack but I also wanted to bring lots of options, this is NYC. Here’s most of what I packed, minus some toiletrees. I got these packing bags on Amazon that really helped condense our stuff to fit into carry-ons.

DAY 1

0923151734b

(yes, we only took carry-ons, you may consider me a packing ninja)

We took a red-eye flight then hit the ground running straight into the city (huge mistake, we were beyond exhausted after not getting much sleep on the plane). I wore yoga pants, a t-shirt and a flannel on the flight so I needed to change and wash my face as soon as we landed in Newark, NJ (why do flights make you so greasy? Or maybe that’s just me?). Β I did a quick change in the airport bathroom, washed my face and did my makeup. At first I was embarrassed, then I was like “who cares?” One of the first things I noticed on the East Coast, no toilet seat covers! None in NYC, NJ, DC or VA, weird right??! Don’t worry Mom, I just covered the seat in toilet paper.

IMG_5213

(me changing in the bathroom stall, NBD)

After the train to NYC, we stored our luggage at Schwartz Luggage. Then we started the Big Bus Tour. The bus tour was probably my favorite thing we experienced in the city (day one), the tour guides were amazing (besides one boring one) and we could hop on and off at any stop uptown and downtown Manhattan. One of the tour guides kept calling Ryan the paparazzi and it was hilarious, or maybe we were just delirious? Our first stop, 9/11 Memorial and Museum. WOW, is all I can say, they did an amazing job on this memorial!

12039537_10153031002321916_6883328983474427773_n

Next stop, Battery park. We decided not to take the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty or Ellis island due to time (we also get sea sick). Β Luckily, this park had some amazing views. We were really surprised by all the parks in the city and how nice people were. For some reason, I was expecting people to be rude but it was quite the opposite. I also expected to be nervous about all the people but we felt very safe, that may have been due to the all the extra security around with the Pope visiting. We kind of had a Pope sighting, we saw cars driving by and lots of people cheering but I could not see the “Pope mobile” directly. That counts right? After the park and lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, we were beyond exhausted. We opted to sit on the bus without “hopping” off for the rest of the tour. Once our tour ended, a couple hours later, we were ready to head to our friends house in NJ. I picked up a cannoli for the train ride back. That is an East Coast MUST right? It was AMAZING and gave me the energy/happy pickup I needed. The Penn Station was INSANE, our train number wasn’t announced but 3 minutes before it left the station and we had to push through people with our luggage. HOLY S, It was crazy! Luckily, we made it. We had really great conversations with a college-aged girl and a older man (no they weren’t together). Once in Madison, NJ our friends picked us up. In NJ, several restaurants do not serve alcohol but they have BYOB policies. It was bizarre. We brought our own beer and wine, the server opened our wine and gave us a bucket with ice for our beer, no hassle and no charge! After dinner, we went home and passed out. Thank you Doran and Sandra for hosting us!!

My outfit choice for day one felt real “New York-ish.” I didn’t plan on wearing my hat but it would have costs more to store it at the luggage place. I feel like a hat seems like a good idea until its been on for several hours and your ears are sore and you have major hat hair… It was still pretty cute. My friend/stylist at Nordstrom helped me come up with this outfit πŸ™‚ .

Outfit: Jeans (Treasure & Bond), shirt (Treasure & Bond), shoes (UGG, these are great for running around but not for walking several miles, my feet were hurting :/Β ), leather vest (TOPSHOPΒ I got mine at the Anniversary Sale but they have a similar one for $90), necklace (Stella & Dot, I literally wore this for almost the entire trip), hat (Phase 3) and purse (Tory Burch).

I hope you enjoyed my post, sorry it’s so long!
