Spring

Spring is here and I have collected some of my favorite trends to share. I am still crazy for torn denim and shorts are no exception. The other day, Ryan (my husband) was like, “what is wrong with your shorts? They have a huge hole, why are you wearing them. Please tell me you didn’t buy them like that!?” Sorry, not sorry because I definitely bought them with the holes. I found these Topshop denim shorts on clearance at Nordstrom rack for $18! It doesn’t get much better than that for Topshop. They came with some small holes and have become holier (is that a word?) over time. They are a high rise and could be mistaken for “mom butt” but I actually LOVE them and usually wear a casual t-shirt, tucked in the front of course.

The block heel. OMG I am crazy for a block heel. As a girl who rarely wears heels and struggles to walk in them when I do, the chunky heel makes wearing heels a million times easier. Here’s a roundup of the ones I love:

I LOVE me some white denim! They are just so perfect for spring and summer. The torn look is fun and makes them a little more casual. Any age can wear a little tare but a shredded look is probably not the best choice for the seniors…. 🙂

That is all for today. I will have much more to share soon. I hope you enjoyed reading!

OOTD Roundup

Wow, It has been a while and a lot has happened since my last post. I turned 30!! OMG! 30 is not scary but it does make me feel like an old broad. I mean, do I need to start wearing loafers and khakis? Not this girl – eek! (no offense if khakis and loafers are your outfit of choice) I am excited and ready to embrace my thirties. 🙂

My 30th birthday was a week long celebration with a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the kids, lunch with work friends, pizza party with our families and a night out with friends. 🙂

IMG_1325
Here’s a roundup of pictures from my 30th Birthday Party at Mikunis 🙂 I am crazy for sushi! Yes, guys were there too but it is so much more fun to take pictures with the ladies!

My sisters and a full body shot of my look for the night.

Oh this dress! It is ASTR and amazing. I love the blue and black together. Does this make anyone else happy? I think people used to say that black and blue do not go together but I think they compliment each other well. I wore a sparkly black blazer over the dress but didn’t get a clear picture! UGH! This outfit deserves a photo shoot it was soooo good.

Now, to my recent looks. I post my outfits daily on Instagram (@omgandmore), this is a great way to see what I wear everyday (outfit of the day, #ootd). Does that sound like I think I am cool because I don’t actually think I am cool but If you like my blog then you may like my Instagram too. 😉

This TOPSHOP trench was a gift from my hubby. I love the color, it’s a nice spin on a classic.

Found these ripped jeans at Nordstrom Rack for $18!!! Best. Day. Ever. Oh and the Adidas… OMG!! These are a real throwback to the 90’s and I am obsessed.

Boot Update

It has been a while since my last post. Sorry! I got the over the knee boots and decided to return them, they were beautiful but I think my legs are a little skinny for them (first world problems). They were too baggy by the end of the evening and I just couldn’t look past it. I literally lost sleep over the decision to keep or return the Seychelles boots. Yes, I am being serious 🙄.  I still have the dream of owning a pair of boots like these and I am on the search for the perfect fit.

Here is the look I put together to debut the boots. They are definitely a going out boot and not an everyday boot, in my opinion.

My husband has really stepped up his fashion game 🙂 .

This look was so fun to pick out! The black dress and drapey jacket are from the Juniors department in Nordstrom. The necklace is Stella and Dot. I have become obsessed with their jewelry. The quality is amazing and every piece is so special 🙂 .

They are too baggy right? Or, am I just crazy?!

I will keep you updated on my boot hunt! With the change of season coming, I may wait until the next winter, unless these go on sale then I may consider them a half size down to see if that helps with the bagginess. I am a true 8.5 but got these in a 9 because that is all that was available. Unless I find something that fits better 😉 .

On a different note, today is the one year anniversary of my blog! YAY! I can’t believe it has been a year. I created this blog when I was feeling blah and a little sad. I wanted to create something for me, outside of being a mommy, that I enjoyed and could be an outlet for my fashion obsession. OMGANDMORE has been such an amazing way for me to express myself and share my love for fashion 🙂 . Thank you for reading!

I HAD A DREAM…. ABOUT OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

Yes, I realize it’s a little late in the season to bring up the over the knee boot. I just can’t get these out of my mind. People are posting pics on Instagram everywhere wearing these. To me, I always thought this style boot was a little on the skanky side (for lack of a better word. I just tried to put a Kimoji pic in and it won’t let me… Ugh!) but lately I am really into it. Although, there is a fine line between skank and adorable. The heel length and the outfit choice are the deciding factors in this matter. A flat to mid high heel (2-3″) is much more acceptable than a stiletto. Also, if you decide to wear these with a mini skirt please be prepared to be whistled at.

These Steve Madden boots seem to be popular with the heel and tie in the back but i honestly hate them.

Steve Madden

These are just okay. They are a good option for a more casual look. They would be cute with skinny jeans and a long shirt or a sweater and sparkly necklace for a dressier option.

Vince Camuto

These are a thigh high boot and I am obsessed! I just ordered them and I hope they are as amazing in person as online.

The Seychelles (a brand I have never tried, on the pricey side) are just perfection. The color is amazing, they can go with dark or lighter colors and can easily be dressed up or down by the change of a shirt.I love the heel height (2 1/4). Although, perfect looking online, these will definitely need to be tried on. With the thigh high boot I am hoping to not look like a hooker. I think worn with the right outfit, skinny pants/jeans, a skirt or dress with tights will look adorable.

These Calvin Klein knee high boots are a great option too and they are at a nicer price point then the Seychelles.

I really like the heel height and the toe shape on the Calvin Klein boots. I feel like other people really like the laced up ones but I am not into them.

I know this is a random one but I hope you enjoyed the post 🙂 .

BLACK FRIDAY

Oh the sales! For my family, it is a tradition to fight the crowds on Black Friday. I am sure lots of people think we are crazy. Thursday night, my sisters and I went to Target and Kohls. I came straight from Thanksgiving dinner so I was dressed a little fancy for shopping.

I look exhausted in this picture. It was only about 8… Look, I am trying to work on being more photogenic. These things take time! 🙂

These are my first true high-rise jeans and I don’t think I will every buy a different rise now. Yes, they go up to my belly button and no it doesn’t bother me. I felt weird for about a day wearing them but I am in love now. If you haven’t tried a high-rise, you need to. They just fit so amazing and make me feel more confident with my body. The ASTR deep v-neck shirt was an item I picked up on sale right before the Black Friday sale at Nordstrom (Of course it is no longer available, sorry! On Black Friday it was marked down an extra 20%) along with the adorable booties. OMG these booties. I am in love, they are the perfect color (they also come in several other amazing colors) and I am crazy for the laced-up style. The outfit is a little random but I think it came together nicely. The flannel under the dressy shirt was something fun I wanted to try. I like the idea of mixing fancy with causal, it makes things interesting. Fashion is about taking risks right?

P.S. I like to add items to my Wishlist on Nordstrom.com and then wait till they go on sale to purchase 🙂 You would be surprised by how many things go on sale at Nordstrom.

DC

DAY 4

Sunday morning we slept in, said goodbye to our friends and left for DC. We had a rental car specifically for this drive. We had hoped to stop in Philly but due to the Pope’s visit we were not able to (not bitter or anything). Once in DC, we checked in and headed to the downtown area to take the night bus tour. Ryan insisted that I take a pic in front of the FBI building (HI!).

(Dinner before the night tour)

In NYC, the adrenaline of the city was amazing and I wanted to look my best everyday. As soon as we got to DC, it just wasn’t the same vibe (for me at least, sorry DC) and I seemed to hit my “wall” of exhaustion. The DC night tour was awesome but lasted a hour longer than supposed to so we didn’t get back to the hotel until about midnight. We then hit the bar for some drinks 🙂

DAY 3 – BROOKLYN YOU HAVE MY HEART

Day 3

From Madison, NJ we drove to Brooklyn. For some reason, I expected Brooklyn to be grungy and a little scary but it was quite the opposite (at least the area we were in). OMG, Brooklyn, it was love at first bite of a duck wing. We started at the Smorgasbord. The food options were AMAZING! I tried duck, coconut (yes, I have tried coconut before but never in such a fun way) and Lumpia (I know random, I just couldn’t decide and it sounded delicious).

IMG_5244 IMG_5240 IMG_5241 IMG_5243IMG_5245
(At first I felt a little sad about the duck but I just tried not to think about singing rubber ducky to my kids)

IMG_5247

Can you see the little mouse door? How fun is that!?

The thing I loved about Brooklyn so much was the feeling I had while there. Everyone was dressed like they had their own fashion blog and the shopping was awesome! A lot of flea shopping with handmade jewelry and several boutiques with unique clothing. I felt safe and it was just a cool place. My purchase while in Brooklyn was a pair of cloth Dr. Martens. It’s funny because when  I was in Junior High/ High School, my sisters and I owned pairs of Doc’s but got rid of all of them and now they are back!? Fashion is funny. They are adorable but I have not worn them yet, I think I am waiting for the weather to cool down.

IMG_5348

The Dr. Martins are a different look, I am trying to not let them intimidate me and just go for it 🙂

That night, we had tickets to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway. We changed our clothes in the car, yes in the car and we set out for sushi then the show. Wow, the show was AMAZING and hilarious! Definitely a must see, unless you are offended easily, then maybe not…

For the evening, I chose to wear this Wayf faux suede blue dress with Vince Camuto heels and a Stella and Dot necklace. The dress is fun and different than anything else I own (minus the brown faux suede skirt I own but that’s different cause it’s a not the same color and not a skirt, right?). After the show, we went to a rooftop bar for drinks. The night was so fun 🙂 .

EAST COAST DAY 2

DAY 2 of 6!

We all woke up well rested and excited for our second day in the city. It was about an hour train ride into the city from our friends house, where we were staying. Here’s a pic of Sandra and I at Madison’s adorable train station. Of course with our morning coffees 🙂 .

IMG_5224

First stop, Grand Central Station. WOW! The station is beautiful! We took lots of pictures but nothing seemed to turn out awesome.. must have been the cameras fault right? Anyway, here is the only decent full body shot of my outfit for the day. I am crazy for this suede skirt because it goes with so much! I like to wear it with a longer shirt over or a tucked flannel. The shirt is so comfy and can be dressed up (sort of) or dressed down with jeans so easy. It comes with those hanging straps on the inside (which drive me nuts) and I plan to snip those out ASAP! The booties were a cute choice with this outfit but not a cute choice for walking around New York City. My feet were okay but they would have been a lot better in some Nike’s. But we were in the city, I had to dress up right?

0925151211

After touring the station for a little while, we tried out Dunkin’ Donuts. EVERYBODY says, “you must try Dunkin’ Donuts.” Look, this might offend some people but WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? I think the coffee was alright nothing special (#sorrynotsorry). After drinking our mediocre coffee, we took a taxi to the Rockefeller building.

IMG_5235

(Here’s Ryan calling for a taxi. OMG, he is we are such dorks)

While waiting for our “appointment” time to take the elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller, I did some shopping at TOPSHOP 🙂 .

Here is what I got:

IMG_5345

The yellow flannel has been on my radar for a while so I knew this was going to be a purchase. The lace-up flats have been all over Instagram lately and I have been drooling! I am so happy to now have a pair! I was between the these and the same ones but with tassels. Sandra and I decided the tassels were too intense. The NY (not from TOPSHOP) hat is just cute (sorry NY, I am only concerned about the cuteness factor. At least I am honest?).

The elevator ride up to the top of Rockefeller was 90 seconds of torture. I get motion sickness and they had a crazy strobe light show on the ceiling while we rode up (I was so happy when it stopped!). The views were amazing but I was happy to be back on the ground floor 🙂 .

SDC12038

We ate a late breakfast so we skipped lunch, terrible decision (some of us may have been hangry (hungry+angry=hangry), or maybe that was just me?). We went and wandered through the MET. AMAZING is all I can say. You could spend an entire day just looking at things in the MET. We left after a couple hours in need of dinner.

SDC12046

(I should be embarrassed by this but for some reason I am not)

SDC12051

Reichenbach Hall is where we ended up for dinner. It was a great atmoshphere with delicious chicken wings 🙂 . The beer was pretty good too! After dinner, we checked out the Barcade (video game bar). The dudes had a great time, Sandra and I were exhausted.

Lastly, on our way back to the train station, I saw a Psychic sign. YES! This is not really for everyone but I think it is fun to see what they will say. The woman read my palm for a few seconds (while her dog barked and her kids yelled in the other room) then had some serious predictions. She said: If I am not careful, I will be pregnant with a boy in 7 months (um, no thanks! This mama is done 🙂 ), I will be signing important papers in the next few months, we will be buying a different house in 2 years and I may be changing jobs. She also answered a few random questions of mine. It was a lot of fun, I may or may not have been intoxicated while my reading but I had a blast.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our day 2 in NYC, there are 4 more days to come!

EAST COAST DAY 1

We started planning for our trip to the East Coast back in January after reconnecting  with some friends in Hawaii for a wedding. Our friends offered to host us in New Jersey and the other’s in Richmond, Virginia. I have a friend living in DC, so we mapped out our trip and began working on our itinerary. The first 3 days were spent in New Jersey (although, we went into NYC everyday 🙂 ), then DC for 2 days and Virginia for the last 2 days.

Packing, I don’t like to over pack but I also wanted to bring lots of options, this is NYC. Here’s most of what I packed, minus some toiletrees. I got these packing bags on Amazon that really helped condense our stuff to fit into carry-ons.

DAY 1

0923151734b

(yes, we only took carry-ons, you may consider me a packing ninja)

We took a red-eye flight then hit the ground running straight into the city (huge mistake, we were beyond exhausted after not getting much sleep on the plane). I wore yoga pants, a t-shirt and a flannel on the flight so I needed to change and wash my face as soon as we landed in Newark, NJ (why do flights make you so greasy? Or maybe that’s just me?).  I did a quick change in the airport bathroom, washed my face and did my makeup. At first I was embarrassed, then I was like “who cares?” One of the first things I noticed on the East Coast, no toilet seat covers! None in NYC, NJ, DC or VA, weird right??! Don’t worry Mom, I just covered the seat in toilet paper.

IMG_5213

(me changing in the bathroom stall, NBD)

After the train to NYC, we stored our luggage at Schwartz Luggage. Then we started the Big Bus Tour. The bus tour was probably my favorite thing we experienced in the city (day one), the tour guides were amazing (besides one boring one) and we could hop on and off at any stop uptown and downtown Manhattan. One of the tour guides kept calling Ryan the paparazzi and it was hilarious, or maybe we were just delirious? Our first stop, 9/11 Memorial and Museum. WOW, is all I can say, they did an amazing job on this memorial!

12039537_10153031002321916_6883328983474427773_n

Next stop, Battery park. We decided not to take the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty or Ellis island due to time (we also get sea sick).  Luckily, this park had some amazing views. We were really surprised by all the parks in the city and how nice people were. For some reason, I was expecting people to be rude but it was quite the opposite. I also expected to be nervous about all the people but we felt very safe, that may have been due to the all the extra security around with the Pope visiting. We kind of had a Pope sighting, we saw cars driving by and lots of people cheering but I could not see the “Pope mobile” directly. That counts right? After the park and lunch at a local Mexican restaurant, we were beyond exhausted. We opted to sit on the bus without “hopping” off for the rest of the tour. Once our tour ended, a couple hours later, we were ready to head to our friends house in NJ. I picked up a cannoli for the train ride back. That is an East Coast MUST right? It was AMAZING and gave me the energy/happy pickup I needed. The Penn Station was INSANE, our train number wasn’t announced but 3 minutes before it left the station and we had to push through people with our luggage. HOLY S, It was crazy! Luckily, we made it. We had really great conversations with a college-aged girl and a older man (no they weren’t together). Once in Madison, NJ our friends picked us up. In NJ, several restaurants do not serve alcohol but they have BYOB policies. It was bizarre. We brought our own beer and wine, the server opened our wine and gave us a bucket with ice for our beer, no hassle and no charge! After dinner, we went home and passed out. Thank you Doran and Sandra for hosting us!!

My outfit choice for day one felt real “New York-ish.” I didn’t plan on wearing my hat but it would have costs more to store it at the luggage place. I feel like a hat seems like a good idea until its been on for several hours and your ears are sore and you have major hat hair… It was still pretty cute. My friend/stylist at Nordstrom helped me come up with this outfit 🙂 .

YIKES

YIKES! It has been too long since my last post. SORRY! I have been a little discouraged lately but I am getting back in the “blog” game. BRING IT!

Um, we leave for NYC in one week from tomorrow. Can you believe it? I am so excited and nervous! There is so much to see and do it’s overwhelming. We will be in New Jersey, DC and Virginia at different times during our trip but New York City is all I can think about. The fashion, the sites, the coffee shops, the restaurants.. OMG My husband wants to see historical things the entire trip but I really want to embrace the city and of course go shopping! Looks like there will need to be some compromising, on his end of course 😉 .

I feel like I have been planning and preparing for this trip since we booked it MONTHS ago. When I say planning, I really mean our itinerary my outfits. This is NYC, my outfits need to be perfect and on point EVERYDAY! We will be doing so much walking that shoes are important to think about. Comfy Nikes are the obvious choice when walking around Disneyland but this is NYC, I am not wearing running shoes. These UGG sneakers were a great find. They will be perfect and are weather resistant. They will go with several of my outfits I have already thought out in my head. The UGGs are a good compromise from running shoes.

_10922466

Then outfits, It is going to be in the mid-seventies while we are there. Do I wear jeans with a t-shirt or shorts because I will probably be sweating from all the walking? I know, #firstworldproblems.

I have my first outfit planned for our travel day and first day in the city. I will be posting that soon 🙂 .

Thanks for reading,

Caitlyn
