RAISING AWARENESS

IMG_4057

(This picture is kind of terrible, the sun was blasting us and the lady would not do a full body shot)

Saturday night was Sacramento’s Mama’s Night Out, to raise money for pediatric cancer awareness. WOW, the event was amazing! Pediatric cancer hits close to home for me so this was an event I did not want to miss. My mom accompanied me to the fundraiser. When I first heard about this event, I instantly knew what dress I would wear. This simple ASTR black, racerback dress is easy to wear and very comfortable. I had some trouble picking the right necklace for this outfit. Long or short? That was the struggle for the day. #thestruggleisreal I chose to wear this chained choker necklace, it seemed like the best choice. Believe it or not I actually don’t own a pair of dressy heels. This called for a trip to Nordstrom 🙂 . Heels are not really my friend (I look a little “circus-freak-ish” walking,) a pair of flats is definitely a better fit but for a special event like this, a pair of fancy heels were a must. Even if you don’t do heels, I think it is a staple everyone should have just in case, it’s time to go for it and embrace heels (for special occasions). You will thank me after you add a pair to your closet…hopefully 🙂 .

Fashion Project for Charity

One day when I was browsing Facebook I stumbled upon Fashion Project, it was a link from a Nordstrom ad. Fashion Project will send you a gift card towards a select store of choice for 5 donated acceptable pieces of clothing/accessories. When they sell your piece of clothing, a % of the money goes towards your charity of choice. I have the money made from my items sent to the American Cancer Society or any Childhood Cancer charity listed. The way it works: There is a list of accepted brands(all brands are high-end, the only items I had from the list were J Crew), send in 5 pieces of clothing/accessories and if they are all accepted then Fashion Project sends you a gift card. I have received 2 $40 gift cards to Nordstrom so far:) I went to use my gift card last week and was all proud from my donations but the girl had NO IDEA what I was talking about.. weird since I found it through Nordstrom.. Anyway I just wanted to share because this is a great way to get rid of clothes you no longer wear and DONATE to your charity of choice. With Spring around the corner, it is a great time to clean out your closet. If you haven’t worn a shirt in 4 years chances are you never will… I know, easier said then done.

Check it out….
